Delete your Pollyglot account

If you can sign in

1. On the web: open your account page, choose Delete your account at the bottom, then enter your password, type DELETE and confirm on the page that opens. Its address is /account/delete.
2. In the app: open You, choose Delete your account, enter your password, type DELETE, and confirm.

Deletion takes effect immediately. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it.

If you pay for Premium, we cancel the subscription before deleting anything, so you won't be charged again.

If you cannot sign in

Try resetting your password first — that is the fastest route, and it puts you back in control of the account. If that does not work, email the address in the app store listing from the address the account uses, and ask for deletion. We will confirm the request comes from that address before acting on it.

What is deleted

• Your account and sign-in credentials
• Your profile: display name, languages, level and goals
• Your course progress and every answer you have submitted
• The results, evidence and mastery estimates derived from those answers
• Your tutor conversations

What is kept, and why

One record of the deletion itself: when it was requested, when it completed, and a one-way hash of the email address. The hash cannot be reversed into an address; it exists so we can answer “was this account deleted?” without keeping the account. It contains nothing you wrote and no name.

Our database provider takes routine backups for disaster recovery. Those expire on their own retention schedule and are not used to restore individual accounts.
